Galaxy Note 5 review: Legitimate evolution, four added charms

Exactly the orthodox evolutionary finish.

Thank you for waiting, Phablet fans! Gizmodo's Darren Orf reviews Samsung's new smartphone, the Galaxy Note 5, just announced today. please!

Love it or hate it, the Galaxy Note is a pioneering phablet device. The impact was so great that Apple released the iPhone 6 Plus. In addition, the work efficiency combined with a huge display and a pressure-sensitive pen is unmatched by other smartphones. Well, today is the appearance of the 5th generation "Galaxy Note 5".

The Galaxy Note 5 is quite different from its predecessor. The body has more glass parts, less faux leather, and the back panel no longer opens. If you were a little disappointed with the Galaxy Note 4, you'll probably be pleased with the Galaxy Note 5's new design and software.

Here, I will focus on four points and introduce the charm of Galaxy Note 5.

The design of the Galaxy Note 5 is heavily influenced by the Galaxy S6 and even the Galaxy S6 Edge. But unlike the Edge, which has the illusion of being held upside down, the Galaxy Note 5 is a regular phone with a rounded back and a 5.7-inch quad HD resolution display. The reason is, of course, to use the S-Pen comfortably.

The body material has also been changed from the previous model. The Galaxy Note 4 was similar to the aluminum Galaxy Alpha, but the Galaxy Note 5 has been readjusted to be closer to the S series. No fake leather, the display and back are made of Gorilla Glass 4 glass material, and the sides are finished with aluminum.

The aluminum sides slope gently toward the back glass, are thin, and don't feel terribly easy to hold. No, it's not bad. The oval home button also has a biometric sensor built into it, of course.

Overall, the design of the Galaxy Note 5 is premium! It can be said that As HTC, the pioneer of aluminum Android phones, continues to lose its presence in the market, Samsung smartphones fit in nicely as its successors.

Mobile payment system is trending these days. Apple, Google, and various other startups have entered the market, but Samsung's Samsung Pay seems to be the easiest to use.

The reason is MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission System). MST can be used in combination with NFC from contactless payment machines to point of sale using magnetic stripes. Instead of using the card straight to the stripe, just bring the Galaxy Note 5 close to it. It's lactin.

Samsung Pay is also forward-thinking. Even without unlocking the smartphone, just select the registered credit card by swiping as shown in the image above. Payment is completed using the fingerprint authentication system.

Galaxy Note means stylus, stylus means Galaxy Note. The Galaxy Note 5 also has an improved stylus, the S-Pen. The change is software. First, pulling out the spring-loaded S-Pen launches a simple notes app. It's a quick way to jot down phone numbers or take notes from meetings. The contents of the memo are saved in S Note. It would be great if you could upload to Evernote or OneNote through the app! Unfortunately, that feature doesn't exist.

The next thing I would like to introduce is the screen capture and scrolling function "Screen Write". For example, even if you want to capture a long homepage, just repeat the capture and scroll and it will automatically generate a single vertically long image.

Oh yeah, I mentioned a little bit above, but the pen storage is a spring type. If you have a chance after the release, please try it at the store.

The Galaxy Note 5's camera app now features "Live Broadcast," which was also found on the Galaxy S6 Plus. This app is linked with YouTube's streaming function, and you can distribute videos taken with the camera as they are on YouTube. The app can generate a URL for distribution on YouTube and share it with friends and SNS. You can also access comments, internet connection and other settings. If you have one Galaxy Note 5, you might become a popular broadcaster!?

This is what live streaming looks like

Although it's not super simple, the interface seems pretty easy to use. Of course, you can also shoot horizontally.

Galaxy Note 5 Review: Orthodox Evolution, Four added charms

The Galaxy Note 5 isn't a full-featured smartphone. However, after checking it out for about 30 minutes at the venue, it was the first Galaxy Note series terminal that I wanted.

I'm sure you'll like it, too.
