Smart glasses with speakers "HUAWEI x GENTLE MONSTER Eyewear II" are cool as glasses!

Written By mobilephonebrand

It's good to have glasses.

Huawei's new product has been announced in a hurry. I touched the smart glasses "HUAWEI x GENTLE MONSTER Eyewear II" at the touch and try venue, and this was quite novel for smart glasses.

Smart glasses with glasses rather than gadgets

This guy is a smart glass with a directional semi-open speaker. There are glasses model and sunglasses model. It is a product in collaboration with the Korean eyeglass brand "GENTLE MONSTER", and it is a fashionable smagura that is closer to eyeglasses than gadgets.

The attached case is also cool with a double zip.

The frame is thick overall, and the putt looks like ordinary glasses. I don't think you can tell that it's a smart glass even if you put it in an eyeglass shop. It's amazing that the temples are getting thicker due to batteries and gimmicks.

The metal and red lines on the hinges are also fashionable. Are you really a smart glass?

Looking closely, there is a grill for speakers and microphones in the temple part. I can't understand this until I get very close. It doesn't look like a smart glass, at least when you're wearing it. Below the temple is another speaker and microphone.

A large 128mm diaphragm is built into the temple, and a speaker that only the wearer can hear is installed. Furthermore, by producing sounds of opposite phase toward the outside, noise canceling technology such as noise canceling that reduces sound leakage is also realized. It's like a combined gadget of wireless earphones and glasses.

Skillful case charging!

And since it is a smart glass, it needs to be charged. Many (or almost all) smart glasses are charged by connecting a cable directly to the smart glasses. "HUAWEI x GENTLE MONSTER Eyewear II" showed us one step ahead of that common sense.

If you store the glasses in the case, you can charge them (it's hard to see, but when you store the frame, the indicator lights up)! This eliminates the need to add terminals to the body of the glasses, which greatly increases the degree of freedom in design or improves the usability as glasses.

However, unlike wireless earphones, the case itself does not have a built-in battery, so you need to plug the cable into the case. If this point is improved, it should be a smart glass with a longer life.

Sound quality is clearer than expected

The sound quality is important, but it is very clear. At least, it's not a level where you can hear the minimum sound from your glasses, but a level where you can enjoy listening. Although the bass sounds unsatisfactory, I can clearly hear the grain of the sound, probably because it is ringing near my ears. Unlike earphones, it's easy not to block your ears.

Regarding sound leakage, if the volume of the linked smartphone is about 40%, you can not hear it unless you come right next to it. At 60%, you can hear a shaky sound, and at 80%, you can hear a clear sound leak. For the listener, 40% of the volume is about a thin BGM, so this is usually comfortable. If you want to have a lot of fun, maybe you want 50%.

A touch sensor is built in the temple part, and the volume can be controlled by tapping or swiping. This is also pretty smooth. I wonder if the temples of the glasses are easy to touch, and I can touch them without any discomfort.

The sunglasses model looks like this. If the situation of wearing sunglasses = outdoors, I think you can enjoy listening even more at a volume of about 50%. I don't think I'm listening to music, this looks good.

Glasses-based Sumagra, this direction is fun

It's also a product of an eyewear maker, so I feel something like value as a gadget + value as fashion. My feeling is that the main element is glasses, and gadget performance is more value-added. I think it's a gadget that you'll want to buy as fashion. If you think about it, wireless earphones these days have such a dislike, and I think smart glasses are a genre that is worth digging into in the direction of gadgets with fashion.

"HUAWEI x GENTLE MONSTER Eyewear II" will be on sale from July 13, 2021 (Tuesday), and the estimated market price is 43,780 yen. Cool glasses that make a sound, simple but somehow futuristic.
