Kioxia Holdings (formerly Toshiba Memory Holdings) will start the construction of the Kitakami Plant (Kitakami City, Iwate Prefecture), which produces NAND flash memory (K2) in the spring of 2022. K2 may also be included in the construction support of the domestic semiconductor factory included in the related bills submitted to the extraordinary parliament on the 6th. Kioxia is also building a new manufacturing building at the Yokkaichi Plant, and the first term for the second term is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2010. The two factories will increase production at a rapid pace. However, the recent semiconductor market is unprecedented, so the delivery date of semiconductor manufacturing equipment and factory members is longer than before. In particular, the purchase of Chinese semiconductor manufacturers in anticipation of the further intensification of the US -China conflict is rampant, and the shortage of goods is becoming more serious. In Japan, Micron Technology and Taiwan Democratic College (TSMC) will also be expected to build a new factory in addition to Kioxia, but the shortage of equipment and components may hinder future plans.
